Break dancing was originated in the early 1970s in Puerto Rican and African-American communities. Break dancing is a tool for self-expression, creating visual art, and it has even developed into an international sport. Break-dance is a type of dance that is basically done by people who are part of the hip hop culture.  Break-dance is also called breaking, b-boying or b-Girling. Break dancing uses different body movements on the rhythm of hip hop music. Body movements are like spins, arm movements, leg movements, etc. Nowadays, a number of break dancing games for boys are available. One motion break dance is getting more and more attention day by day. Break dancing for beginners can be a little bit hard, but as we all know, practice makes a man perfect. Beginners should start with picking best break-dance music with a steady rhythm and a flow that you can feel. The most important aspect of the music is that you feel inspired and energized by it. Choose the best break-dance songs ever. The musical selection for breaking is not restricted to hip-hop music only, as long as the tempo and beat pattern conditions are met.

The categories of break dancing involve the following –

1. Toprock - Toprock refers to foot movement that is performed from a standing position. Toprock is a major element of b-boying and b-Girling that relies upon a mixture of flexibility, rhythm, and most importantly, style.

2. Downrock - Downrock refers to the movements performed on the floor. To execute downrock smoothly requires flexible joints and a relaxed body.

3. Freezes - A freeze is a very unique technique of break dancing. Under freeze category, a dancer suddenly stops, usually in an interesting or balance-intensive position. Dancers twist their body into a very difficult and stylish position, which also comes under the freeze. Many of moves come from gymnastics and kung-fu.

The tradition of dance battles –

Classical dancers, break and hip-hop dancers compete for a maximum of 5 minutes each. Basically, it is called 'freestyle solo dance battle', that means there is no fixed style. A Dance Battle is all about winning the crowd. One of the biggest break-dance contests in the world is Battle of the Year (BOTY). Different types of contests are there, it can be one-on-one battles, team battle and so on. The best b-boy is the one, who has difficulty of their skills.

To be an awesome break dancer, ensure you have that one move that will blow everyone away. Try to integrate all parts of the body and engage with the audience. Confidence is the key to success. Most important thing is to try to relax and show everybody what you got!!
